Another fun way to decorate your home is with the use of stained glass in the kitchen.
Cabinet doors are the obvious place (see cabinet door stained glass) but other areas of the kitchen will also benefit from the addition of a beautiful stained glass treatment.
Pantry doors for example are often just plain solid doors with no interesting feature. The introduction of leaded glass or stained glass will transform these into a work of art and allow some additional light to come into the pantry. The design of pantry doors will often incorporate a casual element to reflect the nature of the rest of the kitchen décor and can be either created using clear beveled glass or colored stained glass.
Stained glass will also be used in the kitchen ceiling fixtures (see stained glass ceilings) to stunning effect and will add color and beauty.
Often a kitchen will have transom windows which are windows above the main windows and these are ideal areas for leaded or stained glass (see transoms).
One of the more functional uses for leaded glass in kitchens will be in windows facing to the side of the home which overlook the house next door. Not only does this tend to be a fairly ugly view of the side of the neighbors house but often their windows will look straight into your home giving an issue with privacy. Adding leaded glass can allow the light to continue to come in but block the ugly view and the unwanted viewers.
