In the case of Grossmünster church, he used a particularly unique style which appears to be almost a mix of Abstract and Art Nouveau. Material wise, he made the very smart decision to use cross-sections of semi-precious stones, giving the windows a sparkling gem-like quality when hit by the light. All together Sigmar Polke created 13 stained glass windows for the cathedral in Grossmünster church with styles ranging from purely abstract to figurative.
