Beveled stained glass for a new look in your home.

If you are thinking of adding stained glass windows to your home, you are probably already aware of how much choice is available. The actual stained glass styles, designs, patterns, and kinds of glass might must be decided by your needs. For something traditional yet gorgeous in almost any home, we’d like to suggest beveled glass.

First, let’s talk about what beveled glass is. It consists of a special, thick, clear glass (although back in the forties and fifties it was frequently made of that heavy blue glass you might have seen as a table top). Because of the extra thickness, the glass edges can be cut at a wide angle. When these angles pieces are assembled, they form a textured design that catches the light in unusual ways.

Beveled stained glass, even though colorless, will show off flecks of color that is normally not present in plain glass when the sun shines through it. Without getting too scientific, the light is refracted by the angles and that creates pretty prism colors that reflect around your room. If you’ve ever seen the light and reflections from a cut crystal pendant hanging in the sun, you already know exactly what we are talking about.

Beveled stained glass is uniquely beautiful. Take a look at some of the pieces we have made for other Colorado clients in our two plus decades as a custom stained glass builder by clicking here.

Frequently, we use beveled glass as part of a window made up of mainly frosted glass, to add a special element. This type of stained glass window is perfect for any area in your home where you want to add beauty and perhaps extra privacy. No one will be able to see through these windows, and yet the light will still shine through in magnificent ways.

Where would a piece of beveled stained glass art look the best in your home? In the sidelights in your entryway, or maybe your front door? In the bathroom, to add style as well as privacy? This popular style is not just pretty, it’s practical.

If you are looking to add a touch of hand-made craftsmanship to any room of your home, whether you want extra privacy there or not, why not consider beveled stained glass? We’d love to show you what it can do in your home. If you give us a call, we’ll set up a free in-home consultation with one of our stained glass designers. You can explore the world of beveled stained glass and choose a pattern that is a perfect fit for your tastes.
