Gorgeous Austin Stained Glass

Stained glass is a natural choice for Austin homes due to the city’s vibrant arts community. From older colonial style homes in Old Enfield to newer ranch style homes located in the Hills, homes of all architectural styles can benefit from the addition of stained glass. Stained glass offers a way for homeowners to celebrate Austin’s uniqueness and creativity by bringing a vibrant piece of artwork into their home. At Scottish Stained Glass, we are happy to partner with homeowners all over the Austin metro area to provide beautiful bathroom, kitchen, entryway, and residential stained glass windows.

Scottish Stained Glass is pleased to offer a unique design experience for your stained glass project. Our designers will come to your home anywhere in Austin or the surrounding cities and suburbs to design your stained glass window in the comfort of your own living room. We will bring you photographs, samples and designs for you to get ideas from and then help you custom design a beautiful piece of stained glass, taking into account your own unique style and the architecture of your home. This service is FREE of charge to all our Austin stained glass clients. Austin stained glass clients also receive FREE installation on all stained glass projects.

Bathroom Stained Glass

Stained glass turns ordinary bathrooms into breathtaking, tranquil spa destinations. Bathroom stained glass creates a very high end look, and is also equally as functional as it is beautiful. By adding a beveled or leaded stained glass panel to the window above your tub or on the sidewall of your bathroom, you can stylishly and discreetly conceal your bathroom from the outside world. Stained glass works as a filter to draw in light while still keeping your personal space private and hidden.

In addition to bathroom windows and transoms, stained glass also looks phenomenal in bathroom cabinetry. Wood doors in bathroom cupboards and medicine cabinets can be broken up with the addition of a stained glass insert. Not only does this help to add versatility to the textures and colors in your bathroom design, but it’s also a sneaky way to conceal disorderly cabinet contents and medicines.

Entryway & Sidelight Stained Glass

When visiting your home, the first area that your guests take notice of is your entryway. Your entryway speaks volumes about your personal preferences and personality. It’s also the very first, and sometimes only, glimpse that people get of your home. With a stained glass entryway for your Austin home, you’re bound to make a positive impression on every individual that walks through your doors. Entryway stained glass is both beautiful to gaze upon and also very practical since it blocks the visibility that outsiders have of your home.

At Scottish Stained Glass, we have numerous options for incorporating stained glass into your entryway. We can create a beautiful stained glass window that can be inserted in your front door, sidelights, transoms, or all three. If you desire, we can even create a custom door out of our stock of high grade wood to encase your stained glass. We’ll work with you to create a design that makes your entryway look stunning and boosts the curb appeal of your home.

Transom Stained & Leaded Glass

Stained glass is a unique way to decorate the transom windows in your home. When working with transoms, it’s important not to inhibit the transmission of light that flows into the room, since this is the main purpose that these windows exist in the first place. Therefore, for transoms, window coverings are usually not an option, and not very practical either since they’re nearly impossible to operate.

Stained glass, on the other hand, allows you to retain full functionality of your transom windows. Replacing ordinary glass panes in your transoms with stained glass can add decorative interest to the walls of your home. Transom stained glass is far more enjoyable to look at than the usual patch of blue sky or brick wall that transom windows open up to, and also provides light and privacy for your home.

Bedroom, Basement & Hallway Stained Glass

Scottish Stained Glass is happy to work with you to add a stained glass window to any room of your home you desire, including bedroom, basement, and hallway areas. In the past, we have created many stunning stained glass windows for such rooms, including windows brandished with romantic floral, painted landscapes, portraits, and contemporary designs. Our stained glass provides a solution for adding privacy to the areas of your home that are in need.

Basements, in particular, are one area that we frequently install stained glass windows. Many of our clients in Austin have basements that have been turned into entertainment rooms or guest bedrooms, for both of which stained glass makes a very appealing addition. In basement bars, stained glass signs and hanging lights are very popular choices, for which family crest, Celtic, and traditional designs are common themes.

Kitchen, Cabinet & Wine Cellar Stained Glass

Having a kitchen that shines is important for entertaining guests and family. By incorporating stained glass into various areas of your kitchen, such as cabinets, windows, or pantry doors, you can create a very sophisticated and elegant room to host your gatherings and parties. Stained glass turns ordinary cabinets into remarkable display cases for showing off antique items and glassware.

Adding stained glass to your wine cellar can also create a very alluring look. If your wine cellar is already equipped with interior doors, Scottish Stained Glass will work with you to incorporate a beautiful design that matches the color and architectural appearance of the wood frames, or if you’re thinking about adding an entirely new set of interior doors to your wine cellar, we will be happy to help as well. We can create gorgeous grapevine, prairie style, floral, or modern designs for wine cellars.

Stained Glass for Austin Churches & Temples

Stained glass can be a beautiful and meaningful way to add color and light to the interior of your church and establish your identity in the local community. When you partner with Scottish Stained Glass for your project, you’ll have access to a team of skilled artisans and designers that will work with you to craft something that speaks to the values and beliefs of your congregation. We’ve been trusted by dozens of religious leaders and board members from synagogues, churches, and temples in the Austin area on their religious stained glass projects and are known for both the beautiful results and attentive customer service we provide.

Stained glass windows are just one of many options available for religious buildings. There are a variety of ways that you can add stained glass to your church, temple, or cathedral that will enhance its architecture in ways that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. We can create everything from beautiful painted glass portraits of Christian symbols including Jesus and the Virgin Mary to stained glass embellished with Jewish symbolism in addition to many other designs. Some ideas you may want to consider for adding stained glass to your church include stained glass for your altar furniture, painted glass portraits or crosses, stained glass signage, or stained glass ceilings or domes.

Austin Commercial Stained Glass

If you’re looking for a way to make your hotel, restaurant, or store stand out, you may want to consider adding stained glass to your building. Adding a stained glass sign to your storefront is a great way to make your business look interesting and creative and stand out from the crowd. Or if you’re trying to create a vintage or antique look for your bar, pub, hotel, or restaurant, you may want to consider placing some stained glass lights or LED backlit panels. Just imagine how impressed your visitors will be when they see a beautiful stained glass work of art in your store!

At Scottish Stained Glass, we are always happy to partner with business owners in the Austin area on commercial stained glass projects. In the past, we’ve created some very unique custom stained glass signs, ceilings, and windows for commercial properties. Whether you’re looking for something more traditional like a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired design or would like to have your stained glass embellished with your business name or logo, our team of expert craftsmen and artists have the skill and talent to bring your vision to life!

Our Process

At Scottish Stained Glass, our goal is to make sure that each and every one of our clients has an outstanding experience. That’s why we start our process with an in-depth consultation at your home. Doing this gives us the ability to gain an understanding of your goals and preferences. It also allows us to make suggestions for the design and inspect the area in which you’d like your stained glass installed to identify any potential concerns that may arise. We’ll sit down with you and show you an extensive portfolio of our work and let you look at photographs and images that showcase the details of specific designs. Then, we’ll draft a series of sketches to get started on creating your design.

Once you’ve made your decision and we’ve finalized all details of the design, we’ll get started on the actual construction phase. Back at our studio, our team of expert artists and engineers will go to work planning and creating your stained glass window. First, we’ll hand pick all the pieces that will be used. These will be carefully lain into place and recorded using CAD software. The pieces are attached together using high quality leading and reinforced with black cement and support bars. Once everything has dried and set, we’ll return back to your home and have your stained glass installed for you to enjoy!
