This is an unfortunate oversight, since some historic hotels contain stained glass windows extraordinary enough to be considered masterpieces.

Stained glass is a natural choice for hotels. (Even here in Houston, we have more than a few hotels with stained glass.) It instantly elevates the look of any room, and its crystalline appearance is reminiscent of precious metals, jewels, and diamonds. It’s no wonder that it’s found its way into so many hotels over time. Still, nonetheless, these hotels have gone above and beyond to make their stained glass extra special.

1. Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa

The Battle House is a beautiful historic hotel in Mobile, Alabama. The hotel features a stunning decorative glass ceiling with fleur-de-lis designs.

2. Menger Hotel

The Menger Hotel was built in 1859 in San Antonio, Texas. Fifty years after its original construction, a stained glass skylight was added to the ceiling.

3. The Peabody Memphis

The Peabody Memphis has one of the most unique stained glass ceilings of perhaps any hotel in the country. This ceiling uses a combination of stained glass and sculpted plaster (which looks like carved wood) to create depth and interest.

Capital Hotel

The Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas has a two-story historic stained glass atrium that’s over 100 years old.

Strater Hotel

Approximately six hours from the Colorado capitol in Durango, Colorado is a hotel with some of the most interesting domed stained glass we’ve ever seen. Bold colors and floral motifs give this stained glass a look reminiscent of the Art Deco era.
