Bathroom Stained Glass in Illinois

We often get clients from all across the United States and Canada asking us about designing and installing stained glass in their home. Often they ask for references from happy clients for whom we have installed windows out of state. Just recently we had a great project in Illinois that we wanted to showcase for you.

Ms. Lou Koch of Columbia, Illinois found Scottish Stained Glass online as she was looking for a solution for her bathroom window. As she was in the process of remodeling her bathroom, she decided that it was finally time to get rid of the blinds that had made her bathroom so dark and dreary. Obviously however she needed the privacy as her bathtub window looked directly onto her neighbor back yard. After doing a little bit of research she decided that stained glass would be a great choice to meet her needs. After doing a little bit more research she found that Scottish Stained Glass had completed thousands of bathroom windows that were very similar to what she had in mind.

Stained glass provided privacy to the bathroom while still allowing lots of natural light into the room.

After contacting Scottish Stained Glass she worked with owner Martin Faith and the design team to create a window design that would match her bathroom’s design aesthetic.  This process took a couple weeks and started with her reviewing and sharing her preferences after viewing dozens of designs that met her specifications.  Then we created 3 custom CAD designs that included both the bevels she had chosen and the different kinds of glass options. See below to understand just how much detail our photoshop images can represent. While Ms. Koch decided to go with another bevel, this is one of her photoshopped templates.

Stained Glass templates are shown to clients to demonstrate how a window might eventually look.

After agreeing to what a window will look like in photoshop, Ms. Koch was given a full sized CAD that she could tape up over her window to show exactly how the window would look at scale. In this package Ms. Koch also got small glass samples so she could see the textures and opacity of the actual glass. Upon seeing each of these pieces Ms. Koch then gave us the go ahead to produce her window.

We shipped her the window and had one of our local installers complete the installation. In many cases we work with local installers, but in other cases we do help clients install windows themselves. After the entire process was complete we got this very nice note from Ms. Koch.

Martin,

Woody installed the window on Saturday. It turned out fantastic – exactly what I wanted! Presently the bathroom is completely demolished (except for the beautiful window.) as we are in the process of remodeling. Once it is complete I’ll send you a picture of the how the window looks in the new, improved room. Many thanks for everything.

You and your staff have been a joy to work with.

Lou
